i´m in love with this new forum, cause it is very very simple.
just 4 database tables, all fine structered in mvc and so on. i think that 80 percent or above who use a forum for a joomla website use a community component like community builder, community builder enhanced, jomsocial, joomunity etc., too .
all of these community components have a own personal message system, avatar pictures, profile and profile fields like gender, age, location and so on.
maybe an own pointsystem, friends, groups, gallery.... i think it was very cool, when this forum have a kind of bridge to this community components and use the features of them.
as example the fireboard forum have a own system for this but i think that so many users never use this.
1000s lines of code plus the important integration-options to the leading community extensions...
or the new fashion to integrate a phpbb3 forum with a bridge.
the phpbb3 is an excellent stand alone forum, but nothing to integrate to joomla...
most of the people who integrate a phpbb3 forum never use the thousands features, the most just need a forum. i think joomlas strength is to have so much cool free components and i think it would make more sense, when the developer is concentrating to this, which is not available.
a nice, good structered forum component with the possibility to integrate other components, which have a good basis for the rest of a successful joomla community website.
