I have created multilanguage site and want the ccBB to operate in multilanguage mode as well. I created another .INI file and placed it in appropriate folder but it didn't help and if I switch to diferent than English language and try to go to the forum it displays either blank page or Error-404. Where can I find an information how to setup the site and ccBB to operate in multiple languiages. I do not see any instructions for that....

Thank you  - Arthur

Hi,

Please check whether joomla is able to switch the language, if its then ccBoard has to. Because multilingual is handled by Joomla.

If you are still having  problem, please let me know the exact procedure you have done.

Thank you for replying. Unfortunately I cannot figure out yet why is it not working. Yes - I nstalled JomFish and have main INTRO page presented in 3 languages so far and there is no problem between switching languages. The forum unfortunately works only in English language. When I switch to spanish for instance and go to the FORUM (I acces is through the TopMenu) it just displays even an erro page in spanish (but no forum index).... i.e.

OK, finally I got it working up to some pint. that means I can access ccBB after switching language, however the forum language doesn't switch. I have a polish translation (which I made myself) from, original file, and placed it in pl-PL folder, however it doesn't seem to work.

Any clue ?

I'm not sure what do you mean by changing the language in admin panel?

My admin site operates in english only and I don't see the way of changing it to anything else as I have partners who do not speak other than english language.

Can you please tell me wghat are 'multi language' files in you download section ?

Hi,

Please see my answers in blue below

I'm not sure what do you mean by changing the language in admin panel? No, you dont have to change your admin language.

My admin site operates in english only and I don't see the way of changing it to anything else as I have partners who do not speak other than english language.

When you goto admin panel, you have a section called language manager. By which you can change your site language and admin language. But it is not mandatory to change both or either of them. It is your wisdom to change. Goto the language manager, in this page you will have 2 tabs, one is SITE and another one is ADMINISTRATION. By default SITE will be selected. And you can see a list below, with all the current available languages. Now select a language other than english (you must be having other langauges listed) and click default. This will set the SITE language default as the selected one.

Joomla documentation here

If you have multiple languages installed, you will have multiple directories under <joomlaroot>/languages/xx-XX. Here xx-XX denotes the language-country ISO code for the languages. For example if you have 2 languages installed, then you will have 2 directories as xx-XX.

say for Biritish English you will have en-GB

for Spanish es-ES

in this cases, you need to have ccBoard language file in both directories. en-GB version will be installed by defauly when you install ccBoard. You have to download the Spanish version from codeclassic.org/download section and copy to es-ES folder. This way when you switch language from admin panel, ccBoard will be able to find the correct language file from the respective folder. As a matter of fact, Joomla does this file picking process transperantly for ccBoard.

Can you please tell me wghat are 'multi language' files in you download section ?

You can use 0.2.0 version for ccBoard 0.3.0, though most of text and lables used by ccBoard wont be presented in proper readable text. There is lot of difference in both versions, so I didnt count how many differences are there exactlySmile. If your required language file is not there in the download section or it is not updated, I would be glad if you can do the language translation or ask the community to do so.

Hope everything is clear now, If you are happy with ccBoard, please do a review/vote at extensions.joomla.org for ccBoard.

Thanks

Thomas

Thomas - thank you for your time and explanation. I understand all that what you have said. My site is setup exactly the way you mentioned, however it doesn't work. The site uses miltiple languages, meaning the user can switch language on the flu (from the home page). Admins language anf site language are set by default to english. You can look at: www.younglivingconnect.com to see what I mean. Everything works fine except the fact that after switchin language on the home page ccBB doesn't switch the language. I have an appropriate files in the respective folders (at this moment for Spanish and Polish) but this doesn't seem to work. Somehow ccBB doesn't pick up those and displays all in english (wheather the user switch to spanish or polish).

Regards - Arthur

Hi Arthur!

Your problem is not a ccBoard issue. If you install a new extension, you have to create 'content element' files for Joomfish. They are xml-files and have to be copied to ....\administrator\components\com_joomfish\contentelements library.

After that ccBoard tables will appear in the Translation panel of Joomfish and you can translate ccBoard related items (categories, forums) to the required languages.

I hope this explanation will help you.
